KASHMIR’s HALF WIDOWS

A portrait series featuring a few of the thousands of Kashmir’s Half-Widows.

They are women whose spouses have disappeared during the conflict in Kashmir.

Without proof of their husband’s death, the women are unable to re-marry, or receive government funding, and are often cast out of society as stigma is attached to the now single women.

They continue to relentlessly search for their husbands, hanging on to the hope of them coming home.
